For this tutorial you will need Paint Shop Pro

Download A Trial Of PSP

I have written this in PSP v7.02, but it is easily adapted to other versions

You will also need my zip file which you can get HERE
The zip contains the selection files used in this tutorial,
as well as the berrybranch and bow tubes to decorate Pottie.

Unzip the file and place the pottieselections folder into your PSP Selections folder
Open the three images in the other folder in PSP and minimize them for later use.

Open a new transparent image 500x500

Step 1.  Add a new raster layer, naming it antlers and load the 1reindeerantlers selection.
Flood fill with #D0D0C2.  Go to Selections/Float and apply a Cutout with these
settings:  V& H 0 - Opacity 80 - Blur 9 - Colour Black

Step 2.  Set your foreground to the pattern fill I included in the zip file, scale 100%,  Angle 0.
Add a new layer and load the 2reindeerhead.  Flood fill with the pattern.  Selections/Float
and apply a Cutout with the same settings as above, only change the Blur to 18

Step 3.  Add a new layer, naming it ears and load the 3reindeerears selection.  Flood fill
with the fill included in my zip file.  Go to Selections/Modify/Contract by 18.  Flood fill with
#D0D0C2.  Selections/Float and apply the same Cutout as before.  Now go to Selections/
Select All/Selections/Float and apply the same Cutout, only change the Blur to 14.

Step 4 - Add a new layer, naming it eyes.  Load the 4reindeereyes selection.  Flood fill
with #D0D0C2.  Go to Selections/Modify/Contract by 5 and flood fill with black.  Apply
the round preset to the eyes.

Step 5.  Add a new layer, name it lashes.  Load the 5reindeerlashes selection and fill
with black, deselect.

Step 6.  Add a new layer, named nose.  Load the 6reindeernose selection and fill with
#C00000.  Add an inner bevel with these settings:

Step 7.  Add a new layer, name it line.  With your paintbrush set to Size 2, and your
foreground color set to #462C10. draw as straight a line as you can across the bottom
of his head, about 1/2 inch below his nose.   I made a couple of boo boos while doing my line
so I just zoomed in a couple of times and fixed the line as I went.
Go to Effects/Blur/Gaussian Blur at a radius of 2.98

Step 8.  Open the berry branch and bow tubes I've included in the zip and place
on Pottie's head as shown in the image at top of page, or decorate him as you
wish.  Merge all your layers visible, tube him and you're done!
