This is my own "easy" way to make curved text using ideas from a number of
different tutorials and instruction pages I've gathered over time.

1.  Your first step is to create your graphic or open the one you want curved text on.

2.  Grab your preset shapes tool, set to Ellipse - antialias and vector unchecked.
Add a new raster layer and draw a circle over your image.

3.  When you  mouse over the top section of the circle you drew
you will see a symbol that looks similar to the one below.  Click on your text tool.

4.  Click on the circle and your text box will come up. Type the text you
want and click okay.  Your text will now appear curved above your circle
with marching ants around it.

5.  Go to Selections/Promote to Layer as shown below.
This will promote your text to a layer of it's own.

6.  Your last step is to go to your layer pallette and delete your circle layer as shown.

Leaving you with your curved text:

You can now use your mover tool to position your newly
created  "curved" text where you want!

And that's it!   Pretty easy, eh?
