  • Five towns comprise Pictou County as a whole.  Included in Pictou County's five towns are New Glasgow, Stellarton, Westville, Trenton and Pictou.  I live within the White area in the map above, in the town of New Glasgow.
  • Michelin Tire in Granton, Neenah pulp and paper mill in Abercrombie Point, and Trenton works which manufactures railroad cars, are the three main industries in the County.  Also prevalent are retail and tourism.
  • Westville is well known for the annual July 1st parade and fair, which is hosted by the town every year.  This birthday celebration is the oldest in the County and thousands of locals show up to celebrate Canada's birthday.
  • Pictou hosts it's Lobster Carnival during the second week of July, which is also attended by thousands annually.
  • Following the Canada Day celebration and Lobster Carnival, is the East Pictou Rural Fair.
  • Immediately following is the Festival of the Tartans in New Glasgow.
  • In late July, Stellarton hosts it's annual Homecoming celebration.
  • More recently in Pictou County, New Glasgow hosts a Riverfront Jubilee in early August.  This musical showcase presents some of Canada's finest musicians.
  • In mid-August, Pictou hosts it's Hector Festival.  This festival offers a tribute to the Scottish roots of the region.
  • In late August, Trenton celebrates a Seniors Festival with activities in thebeautiful Steeltown Park.
  • September sees the annual Pictou North- Colchester Exhibition, which is the largest agricultural show in the region.
  • A visit to Pictou County in summer would not be complete without a day spent sunbathing at our beautiful Melmerby Beach.  We are very proud to call Pictou County "home".  Come visit us awhile.
